Artist Bio: 

Ray Chas or Ray Tracey was born in 1953 on the Navajo Nation in Arizona. He learned the basics of pouring silver and crafting jewelry from his family at just 9 years old. He studied physics and chemistry at Brigham Young University, funding his education by making and selling traditional jewelry on weekends. He is celebrated for bridging traditional "Old Style" Navajo silverwork with cutting-edge contemporary designs. He is especially famous for multi-stone channel inlay work using turquoise, coral, and lapis lazuli set in sterling silver and 14k gold. Ray has won major awards including Best Of Show at the Santa Fe Indian Market and has work featured in permanent museums collections.
