Authentic Navajo Rugs & Weavings — Antique, Vintage & Contemporary, All Regional Styles

Navajo weaving is among the most extraordinary textile traditions on earth — nearly 400 years of continuous artistic evolution, produced entirely by hand on the same simple upright loom, with no pattern but the one held in the weaver's mind. The Gordon Collection has been acquiring, studying, and selling authentic Navajo weavings from our gallery in Telluride, Colorado since 1973. Over more than five decades in the trade, we have built one of the most carefully curated and deeply knowledgeable Navajo weaving collections in the American Southwest.

Every weaving in our collection — antique, vintage, or contemporary — is authenticated and selected by experienced hands. We carry the full range of regional styles and periods: antique and vintage weavings from the Late Classic and Transitional eras of the 1870s through 1940s; Chief's Blankets spanning the First, Second, and Third Phases; Ganado and Klagetoh in both the bold Ganado Red and the cooler grey backgrounds; the tapestry-quality refinement of Two Grey Hills and Toadlena; the sacred ceremonial figures of Yei and Yei-Be-Chai; the vegetal dye revival styles of Chinle, Wide Ruins, and Pine Springs; the technically innovative Raised Outline and New Lands weavings; the mythology-rooted Storm Pattern born from J.B. Moore's landmark 1903 catalogue; the ornate Persian-influenced complexity of Teec Nos Pos; the vivid aniline-dyed brilliance of Germantown and Transitional weavings; the contemporary sophistication of Burntwater; and the full breadth of pictorials, Crystal weavings, saddle blankets, and specialty styles that fall outside any single regional designation.

We serve two audiences who care deeply about the same objects for overlapping reasons. For the serious collector, Gordon Collection offers the provenance knowledge, authentication expertise, and inventory depth that only half a century in the trade can provide — including access to pieces that rarely appear on the open market. For the design-minded buyer furnishing a mountain home, a luxury residence, or a significant interior space, we offer something no mass-market retailer can: weavings that are genuinely irreplaceable, each one a one-of-a-kind work of art with a specific history, a specific hand behind it, and a specific place in the long story of Navajo textile culture.

Our Telluride gallery holds considerably more inventory than what appears on this website — the nature of this market means the most exceptional pieces are often best discussed directly. Browse our individual style collections below to explore the full depth of what we carry, or contact us to describe what you are looking for. We have spent 50 years learning how to find the right piece for the right person, and we are glad to help.
